UKAdapta July 09 Update

Hixsept was born in 1999 from a fusion of the ideas of two french : Aurelien Arbet and Jeremie Egry. Forerunners of the process consisting of adapting graffiti related items to clothes, they constantly try to mix art, graphic design and clothing.The brand itself always willing to stay on the side.One course of action: create and show.

First off it’s their name that opened up my curiosity, then naturally as a Japanese, I could never possibly miss The Japanese Popstars until UK Adapta grabbed a chance to find out what they really were. The impact of their name is already massive enough, but their sound is even more hugely aggressive that I thought I would be blown away by the overwhelming storm in the sardine-packed sweaty Fabric Room1!

Przemyslaw Morak, aka Mox is a visual artist who VJ’s, makes films, music videos & video installations for festivals here in London and all over Europe. Mox joined the massively popular Polish group, Skalpel (Ninja Tune) in 2001 and this allowed him to meet and create a long-lasting relationship with Coldcut, the label owners. He has collaborated, additionally, with artists such as the Cinematic Orchestra, Mylo, Imogen Heap, Goldie, DJ Food,Amon Tobin, Bonobo, Daedelus and electronic labels Hospital, Metalheadz and Freerange.

UK Adapta caught up with one of the coolest acts from the NYC underground scene, Apes & Androids who were finally hitting their first ever UK tour. We were totally overwhelmed by their glamourous stage show. Over the top live show? Nah, it’s never too much. Thrilling synth-rock, flamboyant fashion, sparkling make-up and confetti working just right to bring everything you would want from an exciting night like this.
